Please...
Don't tell me to relax.
Because that's what helped you.
It's been over 4 years.
And I have PCOS (and God only knows what else) and it's simply not that easy...
[CanyoutellimgettingjustaWEEbitannoyedwithbeingtoldtorelax].
I think I need a vacation.
And maybe some new ovaries...
Maybe you need to go on a vacation so you can make a baby!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, tried that. Went to Europe, all over the US and we even went to the Dominican last year.
Didn't work.
Relaxing doesn't work either.
If you do get new ovaries could you get a new right one for me? Mine is kinda wonky looking. ;)
I get more stressed when people tell me to relax! Ahhh! Does not work!!
ReplyDeleteMan, if we could find some good ovaries on sale (with all my u/s's lately, I don't think I could do full price)... that would be sweet. Maybe we could get a group discount. :)
Oh my gosh, I am so with you! I want to punch in the face every person who tells me to relax! I could just scream when I hear that word! Do you tell someone with cancer to just relax and she'll get better? No!
ReplyDeleteAnd you know what, if someone wants me to relax, if they really cared, they would pay for me to have an all expense paid vacation!
I hear ya! Why is it that that is always the knee-jerk reaction when sharing your story?! If you've been trying this long, you've tried relaxing already! Relaxing is free, so we've all done it :)
ReplyDeleteBefore my laparoscopy, some well meaning person told me and kind of made me promise, to think positive. Too bad enometriosis, cysts, endometritis etc can't be treated with positive thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWhy does that seem OK to say? If I had cancer no one would dare tell me to relax...or the flu...or a cold...or pneumonia...or any. other. flipping. disease. for that matter.
ReplyDeleteI have been so close to a rant on FB about infertility, this very response is one of the few things that keeps me from doing it...because the first person to say "relax" would be unfriended and would most likely be someone I truly do love a whole lot.
Ugh!
that totally pisses me off too!
ReplyDeleteSorry you have to hear that!
Some days I handle stuff like that more gracefully. The past 2 weekends at work I had patient's families ask if I had kids. I guess they all assume since I work with them, I have them. It's so hard to know how to answer so I try to keep it brief. Both times the families told me to just relax and that it'll happen when it's time. It really made me mad. I smiled, walked away and then complained in the break room. Sometimes I wish people just wouldn't even ask in the first place.
ReplyDeleteRelaxing doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteI tried MEDICALLY-INDUCED relaxation (Ativan).
Nope. Not so much. Not with PCOS anyway ;)
Next person who says that to you... send them my way, I'll give them a piece of my mind ;)
Wow! I'm so sorry. They have some nerve! I'd rather not bring up IF at all, b/c that's usually their suggestion. Hmmm ... that's funny ... that's what DOESN'T work!
ReplyDeleteugh. That's all I can even say to this. Ugh. I can't believe how insensitive people are sometimes.
ReplyDeleteGonna post about this in the facebook infertility group page right now...
That has to be the most useless comment EVER. I hate that one. Like IMHPFP said, would you say that to someone with cancer? Or any other medical problem? Someday, I'm going to ask the Sherlock who tells me to relax that question! Infertility is a medical problem people - and it's often very difficult to find the exact cause!
ReplyDeleteOh Yes!!! I hate it when someone tells me this. The first time my FIL said it, I just smiled and kept my mouth shut. By the third time he said it (in as many months) I politely gave him a piece of my mind. And asked him not to say that ever again.
ReplyDeleteIt is the WORST possible thing to say to someone with IF! (OK, maybe not THE worst, but one of them!)
People don't seem to have a clue that infertility is a symptom of disease... as if we can just relax away disease. Can you relax away diabetes-nope. how about cancer-nope. So why suggest relaxing way infertility! urgh! Sorry for the rant. This just hit a nerve.
Sometimes I just want to shake them and be like don't tell me to relax!!! Hubster and I are taking a day trip tomorrow to clear our minds and not think about my stellar ovaries and I cannot wait!
ReplyDeleteCan I just say, I'm so picturing lowly ol' me standing in the streets when a non-ifer approaches and says, "just relax" and then all of a sudden all you amazing women come around the corner and say, "what did you SAY...say that to our faces?!" ;)
ReplyDeleteLol...love the support!!!
