Eek!
I've given up other things but these two things are causing the most anxiety for me.
Which means it's a good thing I'm giving them up.
[incase you didn't know, for Catholics and some Christians, the 40 days leading up to Easter are known as Lent and we offer up or sacrifice something we love/enjoy/like to better prepare for Easter... [inanutshellthatswhatsup].
Anyways...I'll update more on how this not so great month as looked up a bit (by the grace of God and the amazing support of my dh) but just wanted to see/ask if anyone else was giving things up that made them anxious this Lenton season.

It's going to be tough, but giving up FB will be so good (I'm limiting my time on Pinterest, but I'm not giving it up, it doesn't waste my time like FB!).
ReplyDeleteYes, I am giving up everything on the internet that is not IF blogs or Catholic stuff, and all TV unless it's something my husband wants to watch. I am home during the day, so I usually have the TV on in the background while I work, or I'll hulu a desperate housewives while I eat lunch. So, I'm ripping that all out of my life, and I'll take up some holy reading. Not sure what yet. I'm going to e-mail my favorite priest to see if he has any recommendations.
ReplyDeleteWow! You are braver than I! Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! I am giving up TV, which I watch A LOT. In fact, I fell asleep watching it last night, as my last hurray of Mardi Gras. I'm hoping the result is lots more time reading and praying.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with you and others giving up FB! I'm not sure I could do that. I'm giving up 40 bags of stuff cluttering our home and my life. It sort of freaks me out to think about how much that will be, but it will be good in the long run.
ReplyDeleteHow's day 1 going for you? So far, so good here...I gave up fb and tv...ekk! I've been tempted though, I'll admit! Each day will get easier though.
ReplyDeleteI'm drastically cutting back on my computer/internet time...before today, I was on all the time! Now I am only allowing an hour a day. I don't think I could give it up completely! Haha!
ReplyDeleteDay one has been interesting
ReplyDeleteenough.
The first thing I did when
I woke up was try and click on my FB app...good thing I deleted it last night!!
It's sad, just how hooked I've been to FB...the place that causes it's fair share of pain and frustrations in my life!
This will be a good thing.
Repeat, this will be a good thing!
I'll be praying for everyone!
I'm giving up facebook as well...and I deleted the app off of my phone so I wasn't tempted to go on at work today. But then, of course, as soon as I get home and turn on my computer, without even being aware of it, I had gone to the facebook site and logged in. As soon as I logged in, I realized what I had done- but this just made me realize how much I need to give facebook up! So yes, I feel your anxiety!
ReplyDeleteI'm giving up FB too. Here we go!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you didn't give up scramble. I don't think I could handle it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are giving up pin????? OH MY GOSH!!!
ReplyDeleteI gave up fb without blinking an eye....eeekkk!
Then I started to gut my house for lent too and I'm having a great time. So I'm not sure this is fruitful.....
I'm in trouble! I should not be having a great time during lent! LOL
Email me your info, and I'll hook you up. You're a staple of PBs!!!

I deleted my FB in September 2011. I haven't looked back since. It is so freeing!!! Love Pinterest though. It doesn't feel like I'm stalking. Haha!
