Yesterday while heading to church, I noticed my back was starting to hurt and then would radiate to the side and then to the front.
Seeing as I have never had contractions before, I brushed it off as a pulled muscle or maybe just cramps in general.
But then, during Mass they were coming at fairly regular intervals.
And they hurt. Like take my breath away hurt.
But I still didn't think anything of it.
My dh wanted to time them...which we did and it seemed that my "cramps and pulled muscle" were hurting every 3-5 mins.
We got some food on the way home and I ate quickly and was exhausted so I decided to try and drink some water and get some rest.
Resting didn't really help though because the pain was coming and going, but I did notice that when I was lying on my left side it was not quite as horrible.
At this point I was just simply exhausted and confused. I hadn't slept the night before and now I was hurting every 3-5 mins.
After a few hours of this, and some convincing from my dh-we decided to go in.
I just really didn't want to be one of those women that went in for every little pain...but since my pains were regular I had to put my stubbornness behind me.
Getting there they checked my blood pressure which was quite high, but we realized it was because I was having a contractions during it.
Baby girl sounded great.
And those cramps and or pulled muscles? Well, they were indeed contractions.
Contractions that after being regular for almost 4 hours started to tapper off!
The nurse called my doctor and they checked me (definitely effaced but only dilated to a 1 or so!) and said they thought my body was just exhausted and that's why it didn't progress.
So, I was given something to help me sleep and told to go home and "get the best sleep I've gotten in months."
And I did.
Oh my...taking some of the good stuff really helps!
The nurse and doctor said they were fairly certain that with rest, they'd say me back up there last night or today to "have this baby!"
Those words were def music to our ears.
So where do we stand as of now?
I'm waaaay well rested.
I've had a few contractions here and there.
Today is her due date.
And now we wait and see....
